I don't care if the drive gets erased, that's actually what I'd like to do. It's currently running 10.5, and I know that I need to be on 10.6.8 to upgrade to Lion, but that doesn't explain why I can't boot to the drive. When I try to install it from my desktop via the drive, it just shows the installer file with the same circle and cross over it and when I try to open it, it tells me it's unable to run on this version of OS X (or something along those lines, can't remember exactly). It just shows the circle with the cross through it and shuts down after about 30 seconds to a minute. When I hold option on startup, it shows the drive, but it won't let me boot to the drive. I'm trying to install Mac OS X 10.7 on my 2006 Macbook A1181, and for some reason it will not let me boot to the installer on my USB flash drive.
